“Baaghi Sardaar” (1956) is a B grade Hindi movie which had names like Amarnath, Ameeta, Chitra, Daljit, Helen, Kammo, Manju etc figuring in it. Then there is a Pakistani movie of the same name that was released in 1966.

“Teen Bhai” (1955) is not a movie too many people may be aware of. Its songs are equally obscure.

“Bhakt Dhruv” (1957) was clearly a B grade low budget mythological movie. The movie as well as its songs ended up getting forgotten and subsequently obscure.

I have listened to a few memorably lullabies sung by Lata and also sung by Geeta Dutt. But I was not aware that both of them have sung the same lullaby in the same movie.

“Darogaa jee” (1949) is a movie that had Jairaj (playing the title role),Nargis,Neelam Mishra,M L Bohra, Nisaar etc in it.The movie has been forgotten, but that has not stopped me from discussing as many as two songs from this movie in the past.

Ek do teen chaar aur paanch

Many of the songs of Hindi movies deal with rather “advanced” topics viz Husn, Ishq,Pyaar,bewafaayi etc. Youngsters and those young at heart often much prefer songs that deal with much simpler topics, viz topics dealt in their schools, such as alphabets, arithmetics etc. 🙂 There may be school kids who would disagree with me, but there is no denying the fact that songs that deal with A,B,C (or their Hindi/urdu equivalent) or “ek do teen” often become quite popular.

Aankhon mein aankhen daal ke

When I was young, listening to songs on radio (and specially on Radio Ceylon) was a much looked forward to activity by younsters and grown ups alike. Like always, parents frowned on this activity, because in their opinion, kids should concentrate on their studies, instead of such morally corrupt activities like watching movies and listening to their music. 🙂

Not all Hindi movies are made by movie makers with deep pockets. There are people who dream of making movies even if they do not have the financial muscle for that. They would look for out of work artists and sign them for free or a pittance, and ask them to convince other out of work artists for free too.
