“Madhavi”(1969) was Produced by Shri.B.Radhakrishna,B.Com. and directed by Chanakya for Sri Ganesh Prasad Movies Madras. The movie had Sanjay, Pran, Padmini, Mahmood and it introduced Deepa in the title role of Madhavi.
The movie also had Nazir Hussain, Murad, Mukri, Roopesh Kumar, RajKishore, Master Shahid, Rama(Kannada actress)and Aruna Irani. They were supported by Sunder Rao ,Ganapathy Bhat, Prem Kumar, Gemini Balu, Mudaliar,
And other junior artistes suppled by Eranial R.K.Lakkumanan. The story of the movie was inspired by R GGadkari’s immortal Marathi play ”Punya Prabhav”.

Today’s song is from a film made in Madras – ‘Naya Aadmi’ (1956).
The film was made by Jupiter Films, Madras, simultaneously along with the Telugu film ‘Santosham’. The cast was mainly from the South, taking few Hindi actors for the Hindi film, like Anwar Hussain, Gope and Helen (her first Telugu film incidentally, when she danced in film ‘Santosham’ also). The Music Director pair was Vishwanath – Rammurthy (their first Hindi film) with 8 songs and Madan Mohan with just 3 songs. The cast was Anjali Devi (South), NT Rama Rao, Jamuna, Raja Sulochana etc. For the Hindi lyrics it was, of course, Rajendra Krishna- the South’s favourite.

As per Hindu mythology, the Sun god is travelling in the sky on a chariot pulled by seven horses. After pulling the chariot for a long time, the six horses are tired. It is the seventh horse who remains and continues to pull the chariot signifying it to be the horse of dreams and aspirations for the future. In 1952, Dr Dharamvir Bharati published his novella, ‘Suraj Ka Saatvan Ghoda’. I read the novella in full which is available online. The novella is written in narration style in which the protagonist, Manik Mulla narrates to his three friends, three separate romance stories relating to three girls. What is of interest is that Manik Mulla is not only the narrator of the stories, but he is also the characters in all the three stories who loves these three girls at different points of time in his life. As Agyeya said in his foreword to the novella, ‘Suraj Ka Saatvan Ghoda’ is not the one story comprising three stories, but three stories constituting one story. The author, in his introduction, has revealed that during his early period of writing, he was influenced by Marxist objectives rather than hardcore Marxism. Regulars of the blog would recall that I used to write a lots of posts about my pets between 2012 to 2014. The tales were amusing tales that some people may even dismiss as made up tales. Today’s song is from a C grade costume film ‘Aan Baan’ (1956).
I was in two minds while searching for songs of this film on YouTube. Firstly, whenever I tried to find a song of this film, invariably YouTube presented songs from the film ‘Aan Baan’ made in 1972. After getting tired of this behaviour of YT, I got an idea and I asked for songs from ‘Aan Baan’ (1972). Lo and behold ! YT promptly gave me songs from ‘Aan Baan’ (1956) ! I was in a fix whether to pat my back for this idea or to curse YT for its dumbness.

1947 was an year when it was known to everyone in India that their country is going to be divided on the basis of religion and a new entity – Pakistan will be carved out of this nation.The people had no choice and this was accepted by everyone as inevitable.
