This is a tale of a classical vocalist par excellence who chose the bliss of marital life over money and fame through umpteen classical music soirees. Sukoon (peace of mind) was the main motto in her life which, in her view, cannot be compensated by money and fame. He worked in “Basant”(1960) as well as “Phagun”(1958). He worked in “Farishta”(1958) as well as in “Mujrim”(1958),”Qaidi”(1957) and ‘ham Sab Chor Hain”. He worked in movies called “Kalpana”(1960)and “Raagini”(1962) and for matter in “Johny Walker” (1957) as well. Then there were a good number of Mr, Mrs , Miss etc viz. Mr and Mrs 55, Mr Qartoon MA, Mr Lambu, Shreemati 420, Shreemaan ji , Miss Coca Cola.

While searching for songs of “Village Girl”(1945), I came across a movie of the same title which was produced in 1936. “Village Girl”(1936) had Sabita Devi and Surendra in lead roles.

Around 11 pm last night it started to drizzle.  Rain on 26th January is not an unheard of, or unexpected thing.  But still, it can dampen the spirit of celebration at this  annual event of national importance.  And so the concern is always there.  When I woke up early this morning, it had drizzled all night long.  Along with the continuing cold temperatures, the clouds and the precipitation foretold a dreary day.  Literally, raining on the parade.

Greetings to all on today’s celebration of the Republic Day of India.  65 years ago today, the Constitution of India was brought into effect, and our nation was declared a Republic.
