Atul ji’s 10K Song Milestone Celebrations – 9
——————————————————————–
I am an Atulite and I am proud of it. It is an honor to be associated with a blog that drips pure love of music. Like almost all Indians I love Hindi film music. But I cannot claim to be knowledgeable about it. I do know many songs but that is not a qualification. There are thousands of songs out there, many of which have fallen into oblivion. It is the die-hard music lovers that keep track of these songs and chase them with an assiduity that would make Sherlock Holmes feel jealous.
I am amazed when some of my friends are able to name the movie, singer, lyricist and music director as soon as the song is mentioned. Some Atulites could also tell you charming little stories behind the making of each song. Delving here, I have discovered gorgeous songs that not much known but are as precious as Koh-i-Noor.

This article is the 13100th song post in the blog.
After yet another fairly long absence from the blog, I am back here with this post.
As I said in my previous post, this absence has purely to do with my tendency sometimes to withdraw from social contact and go into a shell. It is a phase I go through and has absolutely nothing to do with any specific individual or group.
Least of all, this blog.

I discussed the first song of “M S Dhoni the untold story”(2016) the previous day (31 january 2017). I have mentioned it in that writeup that I have quite a lot of observations to make on this movie. I have shared some of them with that writeup. Now here is the next installment.

Three years ago on this day, we had a song from the 1974 Balaji Arts’ “Kunwara Baap” in the blog. Today let us have one more song from the same movie. This is the song with which the movie opens and the movie titles roll on the screen as the song progresses.

Hullo to all in Atuldom
So today (30 june 2016) is the last day of June. On reviewing the page of Anniversaries on our blog I find that we have a few music directors whose birthdays were in this month. We had Sajjad Hussain, Hemant Kumar, Madan Mohan & RD Burman. And today 30th June is the birth anniversary of Kalyanji Veerji Shah. I mean Kalyanji of the Kalyanji – Anandji Duo. He would have turned 88 today.

Mohammed Rafi : The Incomparable (II) – Song No. 02

wo dil jo maine maangaa thaa magar gairon ne paayaa thaa
badi shai hai agar, uski pashemaani mujhe de do
Yesterday I visited the page again on the song ‘Tum Apna Ranj o Gham, Apni Pareshaani Mujhe De Do‘. I know the words are ‘badi shai hai agar‘, on which there is the long thread of comments. ‘Shai’, in common urdu is a thing or an object. ‘badi shai hai ‘ literally means , its a big thing or a big deal. As it is said in English that ‘its a big deal for me’ or means a lot to me.
