If 24th december was the birthday of Rafi then his close musical associate Naushad was not too far behind. Naushad was born on 25th december !

So today (25th december) is the day when we in this blog will pay our musical tributes to Naushad, the great pioneer in the field of Hindi movie music.

24th december is a red letter day for Hindi movie music lovers. It was on this day in 1924 that Mohammad Rafi was born. We in this blog do not wait for this day to remember him, of course. “Chunariya” (1948) is by now an obscure movie. What I know about this movie is that this movie had Wasti, Manorama, Pran etc in it.

This delightful song is from the film ‘Gvaalan’, sung by Zohrabai Ambaalewaali (or Zohrabai Ambaalaa).
