Today (9 june 2016) happens to be the 26th death anniversary of Asad Bhopali (10 july 1921- 9 june 1990 ). The acronym of this blog ( Atul song a day) also reads ASAD. That way, many of us in this blog regard Asad Bhopali as the patron saint lyricist of this blog. 🙂

“Mere Huzoor” (1968) was a Movie Moghul production. It was directed by Vinod Kumar. The movie had Mala Sinha, Raj Kumar, Jeetendra, Indira, Manorama, Parveen Paul, Ram Mohan, Surekha, Zeb Rehman, David Abraham, Johnny Walker, K N Singh, Manju etc in it.

Today’s song is from the film Gharana(1961), a movie made by the famous Gemini Studios, Madras. The producer/director was S S Vasan- called the ‘Cecil B Demil’ of India, after his epic trend setter film Chandralekha way back in 1948. It was from this film that Hindi films started being made in south. In the beginning, it was only remakes of successful and Hit south films. Once this formula proved to be profitable, remakes of hit South Indian films began to constitute almost 80% of the Hindi films being made in south.

Music Director Shyam Sharma, a regular employee with HMV (later on, RPG) had in 1970 recorded an Album named “Swar Bahar” that had ten melodious devotional songs by Suman Kalyanpur. “Main Bhi Ladki Hoon”(1964) was directed by A C Trilokchandar for A V M Productions, Bombay. According to HFGK, this movie had Meena Kumari, Dharmendra, S V RangaRao, Balraj Sahni, Rajan, Om Prakash, Pushplata, Bhagwan, Manorama, Mohan Choti, Kammo, Umesh Sharma etc. in it.

It was because of the Google logo that I became aware that it was ‘World Earth Day’ on 22 april 2016. The next day (23 april 2016) the same google had William Shakespeare on its logo. Our Maheshji had also shared a screen shot of the google page that morning on our WhatsApp group. And on closer research I found that it was the death anniversary of William Shakespeare on that day.
