In the previous qawwaali I had posted (Poochho Na Hamen Ishq Mein Kyaa Kyaa Nazar Aayaa), we saw Dara Singh and Mumtaz enjoying the qawwaali being performed by Jagdeep, Mohan Choti, and Shakila Banu Bhopali. So how about Dara Singh actually performing a qawwaali. No, not impossible, if that is the first thought that came to your mind. With a film title as ‘Haaye Mera Dil’ and with Kishore Kumar and IS Johar in the star cast, one can be assured that the film is going to be a comedy about romantic interests of the heart. And assuredly, the film is a successful comedy, and as in all such films, one has to overlook the glitches in the storyline, not ask to be convinced about plot sequencing, and just relax and enjoy the fun. Haaye Mera Dil (1968) is production under the banner of Manohar Films, Bombay, directed by apparently a duo of directors Ved-Madan (that is how the name appears in the credits). The music is by Usha Khanna, and the lyrics are shared amongst Anand Bakshi, SH Behari and PL Santoshi. The star line up includes Kishore Kumar, Kumkum, IS Johar, Prem Chopra, Madan Puri, Majnu, Raj Mehra, Lakshmi Chhaayaa.

In olden days, if you heard a song and liked it, then the only way you came to know about the details of that song was if that song became popular. In case one heard a song that failed to take off in the popularity stakes, then there was no way to find out the details of that song. And the feeling of desperation to find out the details of that song is something that many of us have experienced.
