I have repeatedly stressed the fact that there was nothing B grade about the music of these so called B and C grade movies. But as far as the public were concerned, the music of these movies would fail to catch up, mainly because of lack of exposure. Since most people would not watch these movies, they would not be aware of these songs, and the records of these songs would not be made and sold as a result of non popularity of these songs. So it was a catch 22 situation for the music of B grade movies.

“Jaalsaaz” (1959) is a forgotten movie by now. But its songs were quite nice to listen to. If these songs are not known to many then it is the loss of the listeners.

“Pyaar ki raahein” (1959) is an obscure movie by now and its music is just as obscure. But as far as the music is concerned, it deserved much better fate.

I had mentioned it earlier that “Chaand” (1959) is one forgotten movie that had some lovely songs in it. I have posted two songs from this movie already and both these songs are forgotten gems.

There are many songs from the past which despite their obvius class did not become very popular. one can say that such songs were not quite meant for the masses. And those who appreciated such compositions were in a very small minority.

Kaase kahoon man ki baat

Here is a lovely semi classical song and dance performance from “Dhool ka phool” (1959). This movie which starred Rajendra Kumar and Mala Sinha had some nice songs i it.

“Paighaam” (1959) is a movie starring Dilip Kumar and Vyjyantimala. This movie, like most movies of that era, had some nice songs in it.

“Qaidi no 911” (1959) was a “B grade” movie in the sense that it was an action thriller and it had Sheikh Mukhtar as action hero. When I say it was a B grade movie, I mean no disrespect. In fact, I think movies like this with Sheikh Mukhtar as hero were as good as the A grade action movies of 1970s. Yes, action movies had begun to be regarded as A grade by 1970s.
