What happens when a tragedy queen acts opposite a comic genius ? The tragedy queen begins to act cheerful. Thus we have seen a cheerful Meena Kumari opposite Kishore Kumar in several movies of 1950s.
Even Kishore Kumar’s elder brother acting opposite Meena Kumari could have the same effect on her. “Farishta” (1958) was a Pancholi Production movie. It was directed by Ravindra Dave. “Seema”(1971), though a movie of 1970s and therefore a movie of recent vintage by the standards of this blog, has been forgotten with time whereas “Seema”(1955) is still remembered. “Seema”(1971) was directed by Surendra Mohan for Filmnagar, Bombay. The movie had Simy Garewal, Kabir Bedi, Bharti, Rakesh Roshan, Chand Usmani, Abhi Bhattacharya, Raj Mehra, Yashodhara Katju, V Gopal, Gopal Sehgal, Bhola, Brahm Bhardwaj, Sulochana, Padma Khanna etc in it.

Today, with this post, we arrive at the 12,100th post on this blog. That’s 121 centuries that this blog has clocked so far. The mind continues to boggle.
As a person who’s seen this blog from day one (from the time “mile na phool” was posted as the very first song on this blog), I feel elated everytime we reach a milestone. I still remember when Atul posted the 100th and then 200th and so on. Each one was an occasion for celebration. Because each one was a marker of progress on a journey that we knew would be a long (and highly enjoyable) one. We have done that 121 times now – and I think I speak for many of us when I say, ye dil maange more. :-).
