“Holiday in Bombay” (1963) is a movie which is barely known to most Hindi movie enthusiasts today. Same is the case for the music of this movie. Do not know if the director was running out of ideas, but this song appears to be a duplicate in some ways. The film is Baadhsah from 1964. Two songs from this film are already posted. With reference to the song “Ae Jee Mein Ne Kahaa Suniye To Zaraa” – when I compare these two songs, they seem to be very similar in intent and also in terms of the players on whom this is picturized. The earlier posted song is also performed on screen by this actress, Kumari Rani, trying to stop and annoyed looking Dara Singh from leaving her company. The scenario is repeated in this song also. Once again, the song is performed by Kumari Rani. Dara Singh is playing the offended gentleman, and the lady love is trying to stop him from leaving. In this case, the one additional characteristic stands out – apparently the lady knows some kind of magic, for she disappears and reappears a few times during the performance of this song.

If I were to write that the ‘M’ in Mukesh stands for ‘Magic’, I am sure there will be very few who would disagree. This song – another wonderful duet by Mukesh and Asha Bhosle, is a magic colored with these two voices. A soft and light song of love, from two hearts that are probably finding love for the first time – and that the heart now smiles in happiness, for every reason, and at every pretext.
