‘Sindbaad The Sailor” (1952), also known as ‘Sindbaad Jahaazi’ was produced by Balwant Bhatt under the banner of Deepak Pictures and was directed by his brother, Nanabhai Bhatt. The cast included Naseem Bano, Ranjan, Nirupa Roy, Pran, Jayant, Bhagwan, Yashodhara Katju, Samson, etc. In some places including the poster of the film, Sindbaad is written/printed as ‘Sinbad’. The Arabic name is ‘Sindibaadu’. So, using the title of the film as ‘Sindbaad The Sailor/Sindbaad Jahaazi’ seems appropriate.

Today’s song is from a C grade stunt film Khooni Khazana-1965. The film was directed by A.Shamshir and the music was by S.Kishen. The cast included Vijaya Chaudhari ( real name Qurasha Begum), Sudhir, Bhagwan, Madan Puri, Shaikh Mukhtar, Bela Bose, Jeevan Kala, Heera Sawant and many other small-time actors. This C grade film was among the last few stunt action films, which were on their way to the end of their era.
I was a great fan and admirer of C grade action/stunt/costume films from my young age. The decorative sets and the unusually long, shining and attractive costumes in the films, the daredevil stunts and the hand or the sword fighting in these films impressed me. Unfortunately, as I grew older, the number of such films was reducing and by the time I almost stopped running after films by the 1970 beginning, C grade action, stunt and Costume films almost disappeared from the theatres. Perhaps their regular audience thinned out or the stuntmen became old or producers of such films turned to other more respectable Genres. Whatever the reason, reality was that the end of such films had occurred !

‘Dekhaa Pyaar Tumhaaraa’ (1963) is an obscure film which I came to know only because of its title song which used to be often heard on Vividh Bharati during my younger days. The film was produced by Taher under the banner of Mamta Movies. The film was directed by K Pervez (Kalpataru). The cast included Subiraj and Naaz in the lead role with the support cast of Achala Sachdev, Madan Puri, Bhagwan, Sadhna Chowdhary, Helen, Sham Kumar, Lotan, Baby Ismat etc.

The film was produced by Deep and Pradeep productions, Bombay and directed by Kalidas – brother of the Hero of today’s film, Pradeep Kumar. The Music Director was Hemant Kumar and songs were written by Majrooh Sultanpuri (6 songs) and Neelkanth Tiwari (just one song) who wrote today’s song. The cast of this film was Pradeep Kumar, Madhubala, Raj Mehra, Nadira, Dhumaal, Deep Khosla (one of the producers), Omprakash, Tun Tun and others.

The search for songs of Mukesh continues as we close in on his last set of remaining songs that are yet unpublished on the blog. With the current count (prior to this post) at 818, there still is a good number of songs to be tracked and brought on board. The revised and updated Mukesh Geet Kosh (compiled by Shri Harish Raguvanshi of Surat) which was released in November of 2020, puts the number of Hindi songs identified at 980. We have been introducing new movies on the blog at a fair rate. Somehow in this process our other objective of ‘Yippeeee’ing’ the movies closer to their final songs have taken a back seat. With this post we once again resume this activity and start taking such movies to ‘Yippeeee-land’.

Hullo Atuldom
A very very Happy Holi to all the followers of this wonderful blog. May there be lots of ‘rang and umang’ all around.
I have been following this blog for 13 years i.e. from March 2009. The head-over-heels involvement began almost instantly. I see that 66 songs, connected with this colourful festival, have been posted in all these years. I find a few songs showcasing the festival have been posted on ‘non-holi’ days too. So that must indicate that we will not have sufficient songs in coming years to post on festival days. But that is not so.

This series was basically inspired by an article on the blog ‘Pancham and Only Pancham’ – and the title of the article is ‘Tribute to Rafi Sahab on 28th Death Anniversary‘, published on Rafi Sb’s twenty-eighth ‘Remembrance Anniversary’ on 31.07.2008.
