“Bhanwar”(1947) was directed by Madhu Patel for Chitra Bharati Limited, Bombay. This obscure movie had Shameem, Balwant Singh, Nirupa Roy, Maya Devi, Majid, Masaood etc in it. HFGK mentions mukhdas of eight songs and leaves gaps indicating that there were more songs in the movie whose details are not available.

“Bhanwar”(1976) was produced by Shyam Keswani and Nandu Mirani and directed by Bhappi Sonie for Evershine Pictures. Story was written by Gulshan Nanda. the movie had Ashok Kumar, Randhir Kapoor, Parveen Babi, Aruna Irani, Nadira, Asrani, Ranjeet, Kamini Kaushal, Ashoo, Arpana Choudhary, Madan Puri, Dhumal, Brahm Bhardwaj, Sulochana Chatterjee, Birbal, V.Gopal, Uma Khosla, Kirti Kumar, Madan Kenny, Karan Dewan,
Hari Shivdasani etc in it.

I had heard this song “rang le aayenge roop le aayenge” many times during its days in 1970s. This song was quite a popular song of its time, but all this while I was not aware about the movie this song was from. It is only now that I have come to know that the song was from a movie called “Bhanwar” (1976). This by now obscure movie was an Evershine Pictures production. It was produced by Shyam Keswani and Nandu Mirani. Bhappi Sonie was the director. The story of this song was written by Gulshan Nanda who was a very popular Hindi language pulp fiction novelist of those days.
