“Anpadh”(1962) had several songs sung by Lata. I was under the impression that all these songs were picturised on Mala Sinha, but that is not the case.

Bhupen Hazarika, who is a legend in Assam, is known in Bollywood circles mainly as a singer. But he had worked as a music director too towards the beginning of his career. This was in a movie called “Aarop” and he had created some very fine songs in this movie.

Most mainstream movies of 1960s and 1970s were not complete without a cabarat song. And Helen was the first name that came to a movie makers mind while thinking about a cabarat. Similarly, the first name that a music director thought of for singing such songs was Asha Bhonsle.

As qawwalis go, this qawwali was hugely popular in 1970s. In fact, if this movie “Dharma” (1973) is still remembered, it is solely because of this qawwali.

Kati Patang was a musical blockbuster, in addition to being a box office hit. All its songs went on to become popular and some of them are counted as evergreen hits.
Prem Chopra and Bindu were the villain and the vamp in this movie. Prem Chopra had a memorable dialogue in this movie- “Prem naam hai mera, Prem Chopra”. Bindu had an entire cabaret song for herself where she declares- “Mera naam hai Shabnam, pyar se log mujhe Shabbo kahte hain”.
