Bollywood Mujra songs tend to be sung at a slow pace accompanied by slowly moving Mujra dancing. But here is a Mujra song on steroids. The song is quite a fast paced song, and the dance is at a break-neck speed too.

In my bid to clear the backlog of my old farmaishes, here is one song whose farmaish was given more than one year back. This song is from “Suhaagan” (1964). This song is a duet sung by Lata and Manna Dey. Madan Mohan is the music director. Madan Mohan teamed up with Raja Mehdi Ali Khan and Rajinder Krishan in most of his movies and on the other hand he rarely worked with the leading names (Shailendra, Majrooh Sultanpuri, Sahir Ludhianvi and Hasrat Jaipuri). But in this movie, he worked with Hasrat Jaipuri. And what superb lyrics Hasrat Jaipuri came up with in this movie !

When it comes to remembering important dates, I am quite forgetful and absent minded. The only important date in my family that I never forget is my daughter’s birthday, because she looks forward to it from many days in advance. Other than that, details like my wife’s birthday, our wedding anniversary etc are dates that I always forget, much to the chagrin of my wife.

When it comes to a movie called “Albelaa”, there have been two movies of this name. “Albelaa” (1952) , which had Bhagwan and Geeta Bali in lead roles was a mega hit. This movie was a musical blockbuster too. Another movie of the same name was released in 1971. This movie, which was produced by Mehmood was not a success at the box office, but this movie had some very nice songs in it. I have already posted one lovely song-Devta maanaa aur pooja teri tasweer ko (Albelaa) – from this movie.

Here is a teasing song that is a beach song as well where boys (Dev Anand, Johny Walker) and girls (Vyjyanti Mala etc) are assembled at a beach. The first commandment of Bollywood movies is- “Though shall sing.” So a song ensues in which Dev Saab, all of 44 years, acts like a teenager teasing a 30 plus Vaijyanti Mala who is herself dressed like a teenager in a figure hugging tight dress. Johny Walker gives able company to the hero, as do other extras.

When I was a kid and I used to listen to songs on Radio, I thought that all the songs being broadcast on radio were being sung live by the singers. So I thought that singers whose songs were broadcast so frequently were so overworked, having to sing live so often !

I have just realised that I have not posted even a single song from “Aankhon Aankhon Mein” (1972). When I was growing up, the songs of this movie were all over the loudspeakers and radio, and kids like me simply loved these songs. In my case, I enjoyed listening to those songs despite being unaware about the movie those songs were from.
