I was under the impression that that the title song (Saarangaa teri yaad mein(Saarangaa)(1960)) of “Saarangaa” (1960) was the only memorable song from this movie. But then I discovered and posted another awesome song (Haan deewaanaa hoon main (Saarangaa)) from this movie. And now I am discovering that other songs of this movie are also wonderful songs. In other words, this movie is a musical blockbuster !

When “Hum Log” is mentioned, most people remember the first mega serial in Indian TV which was aired on Doordarshan (India’s government TV channel, which was the only TV channel in India at that time) in 1980s. But three decades earlier, there was a Hindi movie by this name too.

In my bid to clear the backlog of my old farmaishes, here is one song whose farmaish was given more than one year back. This song is from “Suhaagan” (1964). This song is a duet sung by Lata and Manna Dey. Madan Mohan is the music director. Madan Mohan teamed up with Raja Mehdi Ali Khan and Rajinder Krishan in most of his movies and on the other hand he rarely worked with the leading names (Shailendra, Majrooh Sultanpuri, Sahir Ludhianvi and Hasrat Jaipuri). When it comes to remembering important dates, I am quite forgetful and absent minded. The only important date in my family that I never forget is my daughter’s birthday, because she looks forward to it from many days in advance. Other than that, details like my wife’s birthday, our wedding anniversary etc are dates that I always forget, much to the chagrin of my wife.

“Alif Laila” (1953) was a movie starring Asha Mathur, Vijay Kumar and Nimmi. The movie apparently had the love triangle story. Of course, my guess is purely based on the songs of this movie. How did I deduce that ? well, in the earlier songs, I saw Asha Mathur and Vijay Kumar singing love songs for each other. On the other hand, the song that is the subject of discussion here has Nimmi singing a sentimental song where she expresses her love for Vijay Kumar and states that it was not possible for her to forget him.
