Hullo Atuldom
Back to writing after a gap of 3 weeks. Lovely three weeks. Spent among the hills of North- East India and South India. Must thank my nephew for insisting that I accompany them. If the Himalayas and its snow-clad peaks are a heavenly sight so are the mountain ranges of the Nilgiris in the south – the common feature being acres of tea gardens. For the second weekend outing to the Nilgiris, I hold my son and niece responsible.

Greetings to Dear Lord Ganesh on the celebration of His birthday today.
Good wishes of auspiciousness, prosperity and happiness to all readers and friends – may your household be blessed with His presence, today and always.
Lord Ganesh – probably the most recognized representation of the Sanaatan Dharm. With a form that is like an elephant from neck above, His image is the most easily identifiable, in the entire pantheon of the Gods of our Dharm. Around the globe, this image with the trunk and ears of an elephant is the most easily associated icon with our country and our belief systems.

Songs have become an integral part of Hindi films since the advent of talkies in 1931. In the early 1930s, most of the Hindi film songs were influenced by the Hindustani classical ragas. This was understandable as most of the music directors of that period had exposure to Hindustani classical music. However, from the 1940s, songs based on semi-classical genres such as Thumri, Dadra, Khayal and folk music began to playe a predominant role in Hindi film music. The impact of Begum Akhtar on film music was evident as even ghazals were sung in thumri format in the films. At the same period, Kolkata based music directors were greatly influenced by Rabindra Sangeet while composing Hindi and Bengali film songs.

Hi all
I am discussing another great to watch Jodi today. Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit. This is on farmaish from my daughter. She feels that they did some great work together in “Beta”, “Ram Lakhan”, “Kishen Kanhaiya”, “Khel” etc. These two acted together for the first time in “Tezaab” and Anil Kapoor has said in some interview a long time back that he was so impressed by the (then) young and hard working Madhuri that he recommended her to Subhash Ghai for the then under making “Karma”. And it seems they even shot a whole song after which Ghai thought that it was not wise to waste such a lot of talent for a guest appearance song and took her on for his next “Ram Lakhan”.

I am on a different thought track today. I was thinking of the approaching birthday season in my family. Thats what I call it as 3 from a family of 4 have their birthdays in the 15 day period from 23rd December to 6th January. My daughter leads the pack and son (he is the older one) brings up the rear. So I was down memory lane thinking of the time when they had just begun to walk, talk, sing or dance etc. So that put me on to the song I want to discuss today. This was a song to which my one year old daughter first shook her leg for.
