Today (30 June 2025) is the last day of the month. Last day of the month is important in many ways. It is on this date that accounts are settled for many things. For instance, one may pay the milkman for the milk taken during the month and may pay for the newspaper taken for the month. In government service, it is a very important day for retiring people. People who were born sixty years ago retire on this date. So, people born during June 1965 are retiring today. I too retired on this day exactly three years ago.
This article is not about those events though. In this article, I will discuss the blog activity in the month of june 2025. When we look at the previous months, we notice that we were typically covering songs whose number ranged from 30 odd to 70 odd in a month. The last time we touched three figures of songs in a month was in may 2023, when we touched exactly 100 songs. This broke a five months long streak that began from January 2023 when more than 100 songs were getting covered every month.

——————————————————————————————————
We are celebrating the eighty-sixth birth anniversary of the genius music director Rahul Dev Burman today (27 June 2025) who was born on this day in the year 1939.
Any discussion about songs composed by Rahul Dev Burman is incomplete without discussing songs penned by Gulzar Saab. The association of Pancham viz. Pancham was assisting his father Sachin Dev Burman – ‘The Prince – Musician’, and Gulzar Saab was assisting the great director Bimal Roy. Both Gulzar and Pancham struggled together to gain foothold in their chosen individual fields.

Celebrating Pancham’s music today on his 86th Birth Anniversary, we have a song from the 1985 movie ‘Sitamagar’ in this post. This song however was excluded from the movie but I am sure readers will enjoy listening to it. Readers may feel the same what I felt after listening to this song. This might be the only song where we have Shailendra Singh singing in a low baritone voice.
