Today’s song is a duet from the film ‘Rocket Girl’ (1962).
Man has always been curious about other planets and the other worlds. His attempts to know more about them have been known since the Vedic Times, i.e. about 5000 years ago. Our religious books describe the various celestial bodies and there are many stories told about them. However, the modern human quest, in reality, started first when during the II World War, Germany developed a rocket to carry missiles over a long distance. The Germans called it the V2 rocket. From this was developed the first ever rocket which went into space for a short period in 1942.

Today’s song is from an imaginary costume film ‘Son of Sindbad’ (1958).
Alibaba, Alladin and Sindbad were the popular characters during our school days. Not only books of their stories but also films made on them were the targets of all children in those days. It was a thrilling experience to get a book on one of these Heroes, as a gift on “Happy Birthday” ! I am not very sure if today’s young children read these stories. I doubt if they even know these names. These boys seem to favour Harry Potter stories, while the young girls are lost on reading Mills and Boon novels, I suppose ! The big fat book ‘Stories of Arabian Nights’ was the most sought after book (in spite of 5 copies) in our school library. Stories of Alibaba, Alladin, Sindbad the sailor, Hatimtai, Gul Bakavali etc enchanted us.

Mohammed Rafi – 99th Birth Anniversary and Centenary celebration.
So here comes the birth anniversary of Rafi Sahab. This marks the end of 99th year since Rafi Sahab was sent to this world as a ‘farishta’ some like to believe. Farishta-sifat person most Rafi fans agree to it. As if we have seen a Farishta ever, even if the creation was ever visible to human eye.

# Bhoole-Bisre Geet # (Romeo In Sikkim-1975)
——————————————-——————————————
Today’s song is from the movie ‘Romeo In Sikkim-1975’. This movie has been introduced recently on the blog with a song sung by Mukesh on 25.06.2023. Today we add the second song from this movie on the blog. In fact this song was the first song that I had drafted for sharing. But when I noticed that this movie had a song sung by Mukesh, then I shared that song with our dear Mahesh ji so that it could get introduced on the blog during the‘birth centenary year’ of the legendary singer Mukesh.

I had heard the name of Ved Rahi for the first time in one of the Doordarshan’s television serials. It took me some more years to know that his canvas was much bigger than the TV serials. He is a well-known poet and writer in Dogri, Hindi and Urdu, a journalist, editor, translator, screenplay, dialogue writer, producer and director in Hindi films and television serials. He is the recipient of many awards and honours for his contributions to the literature in Dogri, Hindi and Urdu.

# Bhoole-Bisre Geet # (Shirdi Ke Saainbaabaa-1977)
————————————
Today’s song is from the film ‘Shirdi Ke Saainbaabaa-1977’. I have earlier presented a song from this movie which has been close to my heart since many years, and had shared lyrics for one song from this movie which I liked very much. This movie has some good songs and a few of them have been permanently embedded in my memory ever since I watched it in ‘1977’. I vaguely remember to have watched this movie with my younger brothers and cousins at Akola . This must in the summer vacations of that year ‘1977’. Also, I vaguely remember that this movie was given a ‘tax free’ status.
