Rafi has sung hundreds of absolutely iconic songs. It is difficult to keep track of all of them. I am posting them in this blog one by one. Hopefully I will have all such songs in this blog in future. And I am sure that it is going to be a sizeable number running into hundreds, if not more.

Here is another superb Rafi song. This song is from a 1966 movie called “Gaban”. Though it is a very well known song, but for some reason its video is not available, and the few clips available show school / college albums with this song playing in the background. Here is this song without such irritants and with the photo of Rafi instead.

The movie is called “Amaanat” and this was a movie starring Manoj Kumar and Sadhana. The voice of Rafi, singing for Manoj Kumar sounds so divine. The music is by Ravi and Sahir has written the lyrics.

“Do Raaste” was one of the earlier hits of Rajesh Khanna. This movie, like most hits of Rajesh Khanna, had many hit songs. In fact, I am coming round to the view that many movies of those days became hits thanks to their music and the credit went to the Hero, often undeservedly. There are people who think that Rajendra Kumar movies were hits thanks to the music of his movies, and not because of his tragic roles.

Rajendra Kumar was known as Dilip Kumar clone, and he was quite a successful one at that too. In fact, Rajendra Kumar was popularly known as “Jubilee” Kumar because most of his movies used to celebrate at least Silver jubilee (25 weeks in a movie hall) and even more.

This song is a very well known song and a song that has the ability to move its listeners. Of course I am talking about the audio. I had not seen the picturisation till now. Now that I have seen the picturuisation, it turns out that the picturisation is quite moving too.

Yaad naa jaaye beete dinon ki

“Dil ek Mandir”, regarded as one of the celebrated melancholic movie in Bollywood industry is full of sad songs to match, almost all of which went on to become very popular and in fact evergreen. I have already posted a couple of songs from this movie in this blog. This movie had one nice song after another coming out as if they were coming out of some assembly line.

Here is an out and out tapori song that became an out and out evergreen classic song, and an iconic song if ever there was one.
I am sure when this song first appeared on the air waves, it must have taken everyone by storm. Listening to this audio itself is such a wonderful exhilarating experience, and when one watches the video of the song, the roof has no option but to fall down.
