“Andhaa Kanoon” (1983) was a movie that was produced by A. Purnachandra Rao & directed by T. Rama Rao. Its music was composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal and lyricist was Anand Bakshi. Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhosle, S.P. Balasubramaniam & Baby Rajeshwari were the playback singer used for the eight songs of the film of which one song Rote rote hansna seekho hanste hanste ronaa was a multi-part song; of which Kishore Kumar had a happy & sad version as also Baby Rajeshwari who got to sing a few lines of the song.

On the other hand, there are instances who could retain their rich status thanks to their dedication to work as well as prudent financial planning. He would invent a musical instrument that has played a vital role in the development of HFM. Movies of 1950s and 1960s were not complete if this instrument did not appear in at least in one song. “Mangni”(1992) is a movie of recent vintage by the standards of this blog, but this movie has ended up becoming totally obscure. I do not seem to have heard of this movie during the time it was released. The movie must have flopped spectacularly. Search on internet throws up some sketchy details about this movie. The movie was directed by B R Ishara (production house is not known). The movie had Pallavi Joshi, Sahil, Raja Bundela, Satyan Kappu, Tiku Talsania, Shammi Kapoor, Mukesh Khanna, Raman Trikha etc in it.

Today (4th june) is the birthday of several film personalities, viz na Rai, Nutan and also S P Balasubrahmanyam.
S P Balasubrahmanyam or SPB in short was born on 4 june 1946 and he is celebrating his 66th birthday today. Most of his playback singing has been in South Indian languages, but he has also sung several songs in Hindi movies that are well known among music lovers.
