chal sanyasi ee ee
mandir mein aen
mandir mein aen
mandir mein aen
ho o
ho o o o
chal sanyaasi ee ee
mandir mein aen
tera chimta meri choodiyaan
donon saath bajaayenge ae
saath saath khankaayenge ae
chal sanyaasi ee ee
mandir mein aen
tera chimta meri choodiyaan
donon saath bajaayenge
saath saath khankaayenge ae
kyun ham jaaye mandir mein
paap hai tere andar mein
lekar maala kanth doshala
raam naam gunn gaayenge
chal sanyaasi ee
mandir mein
tera chimta meri choodiyaan
donon saath bajaayenge
saath saath khankaayenge ae
chal sanyaasi ee ee
mandir mein aen
resham sa ye roop salona
yauvan hai ya tapta sona
ye teri mohan si moorat
kar gayi mujhpe
haaye jaadu tona
kaisa jaadu tona
saari man ki ye maaya hai
arre tujh per devi kisi rog ki
badi vikat chhaaya hai
arre chal sanyaasi ee
mandir mein aen
tera kamandal meri gagariya
saath saath chhalkaayege ae
saath saath chhalkaayege
kyun ham jaayen mandar mein
paap hai tere andar mein
ham to jogi
raam ke rogi
dhooni alag ramaayenge
chal sanyaasi ee
mandir mein aen
jaage jaage
so jaati hoon
aur sapnon mein
kho jaati hoon
tab tu mera ho jaata hai
aur piya main teri ee
ho jaati hoon
sapnon mein bharmaakar maanav
sachha sukh khota hai
arre raam naam japte rehne se
kasht door hota hai
chal sanyaasi ee
mandir mein aen
tera chola meri chunariya
saath saath rangwaayenge
saath saath rangwaayenge
kyun ham jaaye mandar mein
paap hai tere andar mein
chhod jhamele baith akele
jeevan saphal banaayenge
chal sanyasi ee
mandir mein aen
man se man ka deep jala le ae
madhur milan ki jyot jaga le
pooran kar le teri aasha
aj mujhe apna le ae
apna le
man se man ka deep jalaana
mujhe nahin aata hai
bas pooja ki jyot jagaana
mujhe yahi bhaata hai
ho chal sanyaasi ee
mandir mein aen
mera roop aur teri jawaani
milkar jyot jalaayenge ae
milkar jyot jalaayenge ae
kyun ham jaayen mandar mein
paap hai tere andar mein
dharam chhod kar
dhyaan chhod kar
paap nahin apnaayenge
arre chal sanyasi ee
mandir mein ae
prem hai pooja
prem hi poojan
prem jagat hai
prem hi jeevan
mat kar tu apmaan prem ka
prem hai naam prabhu ka
bada hi paavan
prem prem kar ke mujhko
kar degi ab tu paagal
mera dheeraj dol raha hai
laaj rakhe ganga jal
bol siyaawar raamchandra ki jai
Ham dil ka tohfa laaye hain

Today (25 october 2014) is the birth anniversary of Sharda Rajan Iyengar, who is known to music lovers as just Sharda. Shankar (of Shankar Jaikishan duo) had brought her to limelight with the “Suraj”(1966) song Titli udi ud jo chali. This song tied with another “Suraj”(1966) song Bahaaron phool barsaao for the best singer Filmfare award. There used to be just one Filmfare award for best singer those days (common for both genders) and this song getting tied for the top singer category made Filmfare create the categories of best Male and best Female playback singers from the next year onwards. I was a very young kid those days and I was one of those who were simply mesmerised by this “titli udi” song those days.

We have covered over ten thousand songs in the blog still we have some extremely well known songs that still remain to be covered. Sometimes even I am not aware that they have not been covered as I am under the impression that these songs were covered long back. We call such songs as belonging to the genre of “How come this song was not discussed so far”. 🙂

Prem naam hai mera. . .
Prem Chopra. . .
Thus happens the surprise introduction of this villain cum character artist, in the film ‘Bobby’ (1973). I call it a surprise because his name does not appear in the credits at the start of the film. ‘Bobby’ was one of the films that I got to see on the big screen, with family. Prem Chopra would be a familiar artist in the nascent mind of the school going ‘yours truly’, thanks to films like ‘Shaheed’ and ‘Upkar’. And so, when abruptly and unexpectedly on to the shining tinsel screen, appears this familiar face and the familiar voice, chewing on a blade of grass, and making his presence felt in a very lewd and unexpected manner, I remember I was aghast – “arre, is ka to naam bhi nahin hai, ye kaise aa gaya?”. For a split second, the thought did cross my mind – “cinema waalon ne koi galat reel laga di hai”. But immediately as the film continued, that thought would be discarded. “Achhaa, aisa bhi hota hai. B’gair naam ke bhi actor film mein aa jaate hain”.
