We in this blog have been discussing HFM (and also NFS) for nearly nine years by now.
Availability of songs is a necessary and mandatory requirement for discussing a song. I recall that we in the early days of the blog used to discuss songs that were well known songs which were readily available on YT.

‘Sholay-1975’ was telecast on a ‘movie channel’ as many as three times between the second and fourth week of March this year. On the first occasion (12th March) I had gone to my Uncle’s place and I watched it there.
(And from there I also sent message on the ‘whattsapp group’ so the ‘Sholay fans’ in the group could watch it 🙂 )

It is very common to find people exchanging notes on newly born kids—- “whom does it look like? Bilkul baap pe gaya hai?” (Looks exactly like the father) etc. Another thing that is common practice is when a child is growing or even older people face that situation—-“one look and we know whose child you are”. That is another way of telling that one resembles one’s parents. Now there is an old joke that goes in such situations. A lady complimented her neighbor…”your son looks exactly like your husband.” To which the child’s mother retorted—-“nahin toh kya! Will he look like your husband”? It is all basically a matter of genes and heredity. It is quite possible that sometimes a person might look like his/ her grandparents or even uncles and aunts for that matter. After all there are genes which are common among blood relations?. I think every one of us would have had such an experience in our life. In fact I remember when I was in school many of my teachers used to take my mom to be my older sister. (I used to take it as a compliment for her that she was looking very young and she was very young too back then).

For the memories carry segments of our own past, our experiences, and the times that we have traveled through. If we could control time, life would have no place for memories. If we could navigate the time, as we navigate the space, then we could, at will, return to the past moments and relive them, as we desired. But no, the time is not in our control. We are, in turn, tied to an ever forward-progressing passage of time, where the moments once passed, can never be revisited. And so, the Designer of this universe, invented the artifact of memory, placed it in our brains, and linked it to our hearts and minds. And so, we remember.

It is a very special occasion for the blog but this special occasion escaped everyone’s attention. The reason could be that my manual score keeping gave me a different figure compared to the automatic count given by the blog. When I accidentally looked at the count on the right hand side of the blog, I found out that Asha Bhonsle’s count of songs in the blog stood at the round figure of 2000 !

At the mention of the name ‘Pyaar Ki Jeet’, the mind automatically goes back to the 1948 film, with some wondrous songs like “Ik Dil Ke Tukde Hazaar Huye” sung by Rafi Sb, “Tere Nainon Ne Chori Kiya” sung by Suraiya, and “Itne Door Hain Huzoor Kaise Mulakat Ho” in the voice of Surinder Kaur. The iconic songs of that film were composed by Husnlal Bhagatram.
