“Sangharsh” was a movie as “recent” as 1968 when Rajesh Khanna had already taken over Bollywood as a superstar. So I am surprised that oldtimers like Dilip Kumar and Vyjyanti Mala were still playing lead roles in 1968.

I have posted a few songs from 1950s and 1960s which featured Kumkum. She never made it to the top, but that does not mean that she was not good. It is just that she was confined to C grade movies most of the time, just as Chitragupta found himself confined to composing music for C grade movies.

Jaya Prada made her Bollywood debut with “Sargam” (1979) opposite Rishi Kapoor. In this movie, she played a dumb woman. But you would not know that, seeing that she sings many great songs in this movie.

“Aarti” (1962) had some wonderful songs, and I am posting these songs now a days. This second song begins somewhat similarly to the other song. In the first song “Kahbhi to milegi”, Meena Kumari listens to a song on Radio, and then sings that song.
