“CID” (1956) as well as “CID 909” (1967) had music by the same music director, viz O P Nayyar. Unlike “CID” (1956), “CID 909” was a B grade movie though. It was a Bindu Kala Mandir Presentation, which was directed by Muhammad Hussai. The movie had up and coming B grade actors namely Feroz Khan and Mumtaz in lead roles, with Helen, Rajen Haksar, Brahm Bharadwaj, Ram Mohan, Rajen Kapoor, Tuntun, Bela Bose, B. Mehta also figuring in it.

“Lakeeren” (1954) has by now ended up as an obscure movie, but that is not how it must have been during its time. It was a Sushil Pictures production and it was directed by Harbans. Starcast of the movie included big names like Ashok Kumar, Nalini Jaiwant, Pran, Durga Khote, Ramayan Tiwari, Cuckoo etc.

As a music director, N Dutta worked for films that are a mix of A grade and B/C grade films. He did have some films associated with big name banners. Especially, he worked for BR Films for the movies Saadhna (1958), Dhool Ka Phool (1959) and Dharamputra (1961). Each of these films is a musical bonanza and boasts of a string of wonderful hits. “Parchhaain”(1952) was a Rajkamal Pictures production. V Shantaram was the director of this movie. Starcast was an all family affair, what with V Shantaram and Jayshree playing the lead roles in this movie. Lalita Pawar, Wasti, G. Nirula, Shams Lucknavi, Saroj, Sandhya, Baran, Nimbalkar etc were the other actors in this movie.

Film MAASHUKAA(1953) had 9 songs, 8 of which were sung by Mukesh and Suraiyya and the remaining song “ye sama hum tum jawaan” by Kishore Kumar and Meena Kapoor. The song was written by Shailendra and composed by Roshan. I had heard this song on Radio FM Gold about 3 years back but located the audio clip of this song on YT few months back. The film was produced by Mukesh with himself and Suraiyya as the lead pair. Other cast included Agha, Kuldup Kaur, Durga Khote and Amirbai Karnataki. Four songs from this film have already been discussed in this blog.
