Believe it or not, there was a movie called “Gyaarah hazaar ladkiyaan” (eleven thousand girls). This 1962 movie had Bharat Bhushan and Mala Sinha in lead roles.

When one thinks of Shammi Kapoor, one invariably thinks of Rafi, Hasrat Jaipuri and Shankar Jaikishan. There are many people who in fact may well think that they were together with Shammi Kapoor right from the beginning of Shammi Kapoor phenomenon.

The reasons why the songs from the golden era of Bollywood music (circa 1950-1980) still retain their magic
are-
(1) the creators of these songs devoted time and energy to create them
(2) the creators were extremely talented and committed
(3) the listeners of these songs did not have too many other means of entertainment so they too listened to these songs with interest and by paying undivided attention.

I am aware of at least two movies by the name “Seema”. One was released in 1955 and another was in 1971. Curiously, both these movies had music by Shankar Jaikishan.

After India became an independent nation in 1947, nation building began in the right earnest. Movies too reflected it, and many movies of that era talked about nation building, and also about the values and aspirations of the newly independent nation.

Mohabbat ke maaron ka haal

In “Baawre Nain” (1950), Mukesh did the playback singing for the hero (Raj Kapoor) whereas Raj Kumari and Geeta Dutt sang for Geeta Bali, the heroine. But they were not the only playback singers in this movie.

“Paighaam” (1959) is a movie starring Dilip Kumar and Vyjyantimala. This movie, like most movies of that era, had some nice songs in it.
