Welcome all to this ‘Yippeeee’ song post after some gap. The activity of ‘Yippeeee-ing’ of movies seem to have taken a backseat amid other posts.
If I correctly remember the last movie ‘Yippeeee’ed’ on 05th this month and the movie was ‘Amir Gharib-1974’.
Today’s ‘Yippeeee’ movie is ‘Dard-1981’.
‘Dard-1981’ (conflict of emotions) was directed by Ambrish Sangal for ‘Murghan Enterprises, Bombay’. It was produced by Shyam Sundar Shivdasani. It had Rajesh Khanna, Hema Malini, Poonam Dhillon, Om Shivpuri, Krishan Dhawan, Pinchoo Kapoor, Shashi Kiran, Madhup Sharma, Kamaljeet, Harjeet, Poornima Jairam, Mazhar Khan, and Master Raju Shreshtha. Actress Ranjeeta made a ‘freindly appearance’ in this movie.

Today (15 april 2021) is the 99th birth anniversary of Hasrat Jaipuri (15 April 1922 – 17 September 1999).
Hasrat Jaipuri penned over 1000 songs in Hindi movies from 1949 (“Barsaat”) till 2004 (Hatya: the murder ).
Majority of Hasrat Jaipuri songs were with Shankar Jaikishan. Most of them have already been covered in the blog. We need to look at movies of 1970s to come up with Hasrat Jaipuri songs penned for Shankar Jaikishan.

Today’s song is from a ‘not so famous’ film from New Theatres – which had been making popular and musical films for the last few years. The song belongs to the film ” Sapera aka The Snake Charmer”-1939. The song was written by Kidar Sharma and the music was by R C Boral-The Doyen of Film music in India. The film was directed by Debaki Bose and the cast was Nawab, Kanan Devi, Pahadi Sanyal,Prithviraj Kapoor, K C Dey, Menaka Devi and others.

This “veshbhoosha pradhan” movie had Nigar, Manhar, Shahu Modak, Ratnmala, Niranjan Sharma, Agha, Suryakant, Seeta Bose, Santosh Kumar, N Bhushan, Dilip, Roop Kumar, Mishrilal, B N Bali etc in it. Blog 10-Year Challenge (2011-2021) – Song No. 19

This date ten years ago (viz 31 March 2011) was a thursday and a working day. On looking back at the posts in the blog, I notice that four songs from four different movies were covered on that day. It was slow going by the standards of the blog those days. The first post of the day appeared at 10:58 AM and the fourth and final post at 1:12 PM. So it appears that this day ten years ago was a day when I could not devote much time for blogging. My guess is that I was journeying on this day in the morning and I arrived at Nagpur (my base) in the morning at around 10 AM and that is when I started blogging for the day.
