Like all listeners of film songs on radio I have arrived here having consumed a staple diet of ‘ chand ‘and ‘ raat ‘ related songs. Such songs are numerous and too many to count. The occasion is upon us. It is the 10000 song milestone in the blog. A celebration of a trail, which one wishes never ends till the end of days.

‘Parineeta’ (2005) is one of the aesthetically better movies of the last decade. I had seen this movie on cable TV, but had liked the movie and songs a lot. The movie, cinematography and the understated treatment of the adapted story from Saratchandra Chatterjee’s classic literary piece, were impressive. It is a glamorously packaged product with the subtle nuances. It is directed by Pradeep Sarkar and had Saif Ali Khan and Vidya Balan playing the lead roles, with supporting cast of Sanjay Dutt, Dia Mirza, Raima Sen etc. Its crisp editing is also a feature that I had noted back than, while watching the film.

A few days ago I heard this song on my mobile. There is huge collection of songs, come from where in my mobile I do not know. When the instrument was new, my daughter was trying out all functions in it. She has downloaded many old songs. This has to be one of them. For one born in 1990’s the 1970’s songs are old. I am getting to know what songs are there only now, since I thought to make use of the cache.
