“Shaahi Baazaar”(1957) was produced by G A Thakur and Lim Bilimoria and directed by Balwant dawe and Padmakant Pathak for Chandni Chitra Productions, Bombay. The movie had Chitra, Mahipal, Rajkumar, Sapru, Maruti, Ramesh Thakur, Chaman Puri, Naazi, Helen, Sheila Vaz, Tuntun, Bhalera etc with guest appearances by Mirza Musharraf and Sheikh.

Subhash Ghai first directed “Kallicharan”(1976). People like me thought that his title was inspired from a leading West Indian batsman of those days namely alvin Kalicharan. Our doubt was confirmed when he named his next movie as “Vishwanath”(1978). 🙂 Vishwanath was a leading Indian batsman of those days. Gavaskar and Vishwanath used to be the two most reliable Indian batsmen of those days. Gavaskar would score runs on placid tracks whereas Vishwanath would score runs on pitches assisting bowlers. India never lost a test match when Vishwanath scored a test century. Vishwanath married Gavaskar’s sister and that way the two of them are jeeja and saala.
