I think I should have a new tag for those songs that were very popular in my younger days but I had no clue about the details of these songs. I would love to listen to these songs, only to forget all about them with passage of time. I have been re discovering those songs again now a days. There are several such songs, as I keep mentioning in my posts.

In “Des Pardes”, Pran goes to England as an immigrant and back home his wife Indrani Mukherji and Younger brother Dev Anand wait for any information from him. Dev Anand sings this song for Indrani Mukherji, informing her that Pran has sent a gift (Nazraana) from England.

In 1980s, “disco” songs became the rage in Bollywood. This “disco” epidemic was endemic in Bollywood movies for about 5-6 years. Most “disco” tunes were direct lifts of westen numbers.

Ye dil na hota bechaara

Once S D Burman went to watch the English movie “Bridge on the River Kwai”. There was a musical tune in that movie which Burman da liked very much. He continued to whisle that song the whole day and he made a tune inspired by that music. That tune was used in the song “ye dil na hota bechaara” in the movie “Jewel Thief”.

“Main Sundar Hoon” (1971) was a movie which did not do much at the box office, but its music was something special. Its songs were very popular during those days, epecially among youngsters.

Ye duniya waale poochhenge

Umbrella is typically used in Bollywood movies to protect actors from rain, and sometimes sun. Hero and heroine sharing an umbrella and getting drenched makes for some of the most romantic scenes in Bollywood movies. Of course, it is much more romantic if they dispense with umbrella and decide to get drenched in rain.
