The film was produced and directed by Chimanlal Trivedi for his own banner Laxmi productions, Bombay. The music director was Saraswati Devi. The Lyricists were Ramanand and Neelkanth Tiwari. However, for lack of individual credit for each song in the HFGK, we do not know who wrote which song. Even the uploaders do not mention specific names. The cast of the film included Prem Adib, Leela Desai, Durga Khote, Jagdish Sethi, Agha, Sankatha Prasad and many others.

Film Muqaddar-1950 was a Bombay Talkies film in its last gasping years. Established on 22-6-1934 by the adventurous couple Himanshu Rai and Devika Rani. He had employed a lot of Germans in his company, as he had seen how work oriented people they were, when he and Devika Rani studied and worked in Germany. He had also called his fear friend Niranjan Pal from England to write stories etc in Bombay Talkies.

Today’s song is from an Unique film – Sardar-1955.
The film is unique not because its story was different or due to its cast. It had not won any award also and it was not an extraordinarily successful film. Then what made it a unique film ?

#the Decade of Forties – 1941 – 1950 #
—————————————————————
In this post I am presenting a song from the ‘1950’ movie ‘Dushmani’. This movie had made its debut on the blog on 05.08.2016 with its song ‘aahon mein basaa hai koi ik baar to aajaa’. This song was presented by our Shri Sadanand Kamath jee. The song presented by him is a nice song to listen to and I had quite listened to it then many times. However none of the other songs from this movie have been posted later so far.

Mukesh and His Composers – 33
Singer and composer Narayan Dutt is a victim of same-name confusion where he is always mistaken for the more famous N Datta. The confusion further escalates with Datt, Dutta etc. being used for both composers. The career of Narayan Dutt has already been written by our Arunkumar ji in his posts for the songs “Dagmag Dagmag Doley Naiya” (film ‘Jogan’, 1950) and “Gupchup Un Sang Ho Gayin Akhiyaan Chaar Re” (film ‘Mordhwaj’, 1952)

Mukesh and His Composers – 32
We continue the series with composer Vishnu Khanna. He seems to have composed music for only two films. Both these films have been introduced on the blog with one song each as follows.
- “Poorab Chaloge Chaloongi, Paschim Chaloge Chaloongi“ – Patni (1970), a solo by Suman Kalayanpur which has been covered by Sudhir ji
- “Kaisi Shaam Suhaani Aayi Re“ – Pasand Apni Apni (1972), a solo by Rafi saab covered by Satyajit Rajurkar ji
The composer continues to remain obscure. No information seems to be available on him other than what is already known.

Today’s song is from the film ‘Beti’ (1941).
This film was made by Ranjit Movietone and it was directed by Jayant Desai. The music was by Gyan Dutt. The film cast consisted of Khursheed, Vasanti, Arun Ahuja, E Bilimorea, Ghori, Kesari, Khatoon, Nagendra, Rewa Shankar etc. 1941 was the beginning of the second decade of the talkie films. Many actors, singers, MDs and directors who rolled over to talkie films from the silent era, slowly started retiring and the new generation took over slowly. Actors like Nagendra, Rewa Shankar, Ghori, Kesari, Khatoon, and Bilimorea who were in this film ended their careers in the next few years.
