When I look up at the farmaish page, I find that the oldest farmaishes are from one year back and they are about a few songs of K C Dey. Now that I have located those songs, I will try and clear the backlog of these songs as quickly as I can.

“Kaajal” (1948) is a by now obscure movie. This movie had actors like Wasti,Suraiyya,Jayant,amir Bano,Gope,Ram Kamlani,Cuckoo,Sharda etc in it.

“Grihasthhi” (1948) is by now an obscure movie. It had actors like Faizi , Kuldip , Sulochana Chatterji, Masood , Sharda , Yakub , Shyama , Mirza Musharaf, Pran , Lalita Pawar etc in it.

Every “new” K L Saigal songs that are being discussed these days are like going into unchartered waters, because we are now discussing those K L saigal songs which are not all that commonly known. These are songs that were not played much during Radio Ceylon’s “Puraani filmon ke geet” programme, and these songs are not yet available on youtube.

We have come a long way in discussing K L Saigal songs. We have already discussed 85 out of 130 odd K L Saigal songs available. In addition,K L Saigal also sang in a few other languages, but that is beyond the scope of this blog.

It is only when one moves out that one may realise that the things that are extremely essential such as internet connectivity is not all that freeely available. K L Saigal had less than thirty songs in the blog two months ago. Thanks to the conscious decision to discuss one K L Saigal song a day, we now have as many as 82 K L Saigal songs in this blog. And hopefully we will have a century of K L Saigal songs by the next month.

I am aware with a movie called “Kaajal” (1965) and I have discussed a few songs from this movie. It turns out that there was another older movie of the same name that was released in 1948.

Though the concept of playback singing was introduced in 1930s itself, but actors continued to sing their own songs till late 1940s. It was only in 1950s that the concept of singing actors finally gave way and playback singing finally became the norm.
