Today 15th Dec 2013 is the 79th birth anniversary (15.12.1935) of Usha Mangeshkar.

The voice that initially became popular singing mainly Children Songs. And she mostly received offers for that type of songs in her early career. (as mentioned by our Shri. Deshmukh Sir in his post celebrating 100 songs of Usha Mangeshkar )

Mubarak Begam enthralled music lovers with her fresh and original voice in 1950s and 1960s, but she was soon edged out of contention by the bigger and established names in the industry and she faded away. It appaers that the movie was a dubbed version of an original Telugu movie and Hindi songs were included in the movie which is akin to dubbing the original songs in Hindi. 🙂

I am quite fond of using phrases like “musical bandwagon”, “online collaboration”, “likeminded music lovers”, “labour of love” etc while discussing our activities in this blog. If we take a pause and reflect on what we are doing in this blog, we will realise that the kind of exchange of ideas, information, knowledge, wisdom, and pooling of resources that continuously takes place is simply mindboggling. It is not a case of I taking the lyrics of a song sent by a contributor and posting it just like that. Considerable background work is often involved in posting articles.
