“Aradhana” (1969) is a movie that needs no introduction. This movie was produced and directed by Shakti Samanta. When this song Khit pit khit karey aur kat kat ke girey was shared, it immediately reminded me of another song which I had heard during 1985-86 either on radio or in the collection of the music centre which I used to visit daily evening during those days.

It is time to get on with the series and to finish it. Or it will soon be the day of Rafi sahab’s Birth Anniversary, if I keep dwelling on how to start a post and what to write in it. I have written 24 posts so far in this series and running out of steam. Or ideas-after all how much small talk one can indulge in, given the by and large, one way dialogue of this series. There is no doubt about it, that I have enjoyed doing this series.

In 1939, when Uday Shankar brought his dance troupe to Madras, (recently renamed Chennai), she joined the Almora Centre to learn Uday Shankar’s dance style based on the Indian classics, and became a part of his troupe.
