The Holy Festival of Chhathh Pujaa is going on at present. This festival is dedicated to ‘Chhathh Maiyyaa’ (Mother Chhathh) and ‘Surya Devta’ (Lord Sun). ‘Chhathh Pujaa’ is one of the biggest festivals of India which was confined to the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and some parts of Uttarakhand in the past. But nowadays now it is observed all over the country whereever people from these states have migrated for job and cannot make it to their native places. Moreover those who have settled elsewhere in India have started to observe it in their new residences instead of going back to their original native places on this occasion.

We are moving a bit away from the Rare/Rarely Heard song series of Asha Bhosle and turn to a beautiful mujra by Lata Mangeshkar. The song is “Dil Ka Karar Layi” from “Kundan” (1972). The song is penned by Majrooh Sultanpuri and composed by Ganesh.
I used to love this song after its release and till about the early 1980s when it stopped playing on Radio Ceylon (SLBC). Recently when Atul Ji posted another song from the same movie, I suddenly remembered this song.

Today 25th Ocotber 2025 is the 46th Remembrance Day of the legendary poet-lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi. He was born on 08.03.1921 and he passed away on 25thOctober 1980. Today we pay our tributes to him by listening to a song penned by him.
Out of an estimated 724 songs penned by him for Hindi films, 712 songs have already been posted on this blog. So, very few of his film songs are available to be covered here on this occasion.

This B grade Daaku movie had Shatrughan Sinha, Vijayshree (South/new discovery), Ranjeet, Lakshmi Chhaya, Veena Tiwari, Shekhar Purohit, Jayshree T, Indira Bansal, Prakash Mishra, Master Chiku, Fazal Khan, Sujata, Rajani Bala, Prem Sagar, Mirza Musharraf, Anjuman, Maqbool, Kamal Kumar, Arun Kaul, Omi Chopra, Gurbachan, Vinod Rao etc in it. Ram Mohan and Jeevanhad made special appearances in this movie.

‘Shaque’ (1976) was a psychological suspense thriller, jointly produced by N B Kamat with Vikas Desai and was jointly directed by Aruna-Vikas (Arunaraje Patil and Vikas Desai). The cast included Vinod Khanna and Shabana Azmi in the lead roles supported by Utpal Dutt, Bindu, Arvind Deshpande, Suhas Bhalekar with Farida Jalal and Durga Khote making their guest appearances. This was Aruna-Vikas first film as the director who had started their filmy career as editor and advertising filmmaker.

Today 16th October 2025 is the seventy eighth birthday of actress Hema Malini. She was born on this day in the year 1948. We wish her a very happy birthday and a healthy and peaceful life ahead. During my growing years in the seventies to early eighties I get to watch many Hindi Films where Hema Malini was the lead actress. She was ruling the roost and she was given the nickname of Dream Girl of Hindi Cinema.
Today on the occasion of her birthday I was looking for a song from this decade 1971-1980. I had a song in mind but then I kept it aside. After changing my mind I started looking for a song where R.D. Burman was the composer of the movie. That led me to this song from the movie ‘Alibaba Aur 40 Chor-1980. So I was able to find a song from the seventies as planned.
