IN CUSTODY (1994) also known as MUHAFIZ was a film belonging to the parallel cinema based on Booker award nominated novel by the same name written by Anita Desai. Exactly a year ago we had a song from “Kaho Na Pyaar Hain” posted on the blog. Then in the month of September my Peevesie sent me the lyrics for a song from the same movie as Lucky Ali’s birth date was approaching. But things just didn’t fall in place. Now that the calendar has changed let us revisit the movie that made Hrithik Roshan an over night heart throb of millions. (Oh god what a ghhisa pita word I have used—Heart Throb). This man has completed 15 years in Bollywood. He has had a mixed bag of fortunes as far as Hits-And-Flops are concerned. Even in his worst movie he looked earnest to impress.

Hullo atulites
I just returned from work and saw that we have a post for remembering Jaidev on his death anniversary. But none to wish the AR Rahman on his birthday today. So I thought let me do my bit. So here is a song from the 1992 “Roja” starring Madhu, Arvind Swamy, Pankaj Kapoor etc. This I had seen when my son was a little boy in arms and we were living in this tiny township in Tamil Nadu. The waterfall shown in the movie is in hills that were right behind our mill colony there. And I have visited it a few times in my 5 year stay there. Also today happens to be my son’s 25th birthday. All together a day of nostalgia. So I think this song fits the occasion as far as I am concerned.

Genius of Jaidev – 20
================
Radio Ceylon gave me a jolt early today morning, to remind me of Jaidev ji’s ‘Punya-Tithi’. How could I, a diehard fan of Jaidev ji’s (rather an air conditioner) fail to present his song on our Blog, on this day, in my series ‘Genius of Jaidev? I have many of his songs partially ready for posting, so I selected this one and hurriedly gave finishing touches for presentation.

It is just past midnight. It continues to be chillingly cold here in Delhi. The standoff is ongoing in the struggle with the beckoning blankets, as the mind is trying its best to continue staying at the keyboard and thwart all the enticements of a cozy quilt. So far so good.

The 3rd death anniversary of Ghazal King Jagjit Singh was on October 1Oth and the 76th birth day of Urdu poet and lyricist Nida Fazli was on October 12th. For the occasions, I had planned to write a combined post and had selected a song months back to be posted on the Blog in October 1Oth or 12th. But some other activities relating to travels and pre Deewali atmosphere in my house resulted in diversion of my mind and in the process, I completely forgot about writing the article for the occasion. It was only when I saw a post on the occasion of the birthday of Nida Fazli that I got reminded of my pending article. Even though anniversary dates have passed, it is never late for paying tributes.

Genesis (a.k.a The Making of ASAD Gangout Bangalore 5 OCTOBER 14)
——————————————————————
Looking back, I think we can trace the genesis of the Gangout to a recent spurt in Atulite enthusiasm, itself triggered by the 10,000th song on Atul’s blog.
