Hullo Atuldom

Has any follower of this blog seen the 1990 release “Amiri Garibi”? What about “Chhoti Si Mulaaqat”? Or a few of Jeetendra’s movies of the 1970s like “Jawaab”, “Dildaar” etc. where he plays a rustic/ villager who’s sole aim is to tame the haughty, city-educated daughter of the village zamindar; something on the lines of TAMING OF THE SHREW (a concept which the ladies/ females of this generation will strongly object to) ? Lastly, I would also like to draw the attention of the followers to “Amar Akbar Anthony” (1977).

Well I propose to introduce a song from the 1990 release “Amiri Garibi”. It was produced by Pradeep Sharma (a.k.a Tutu Sharma, also Padmini Kolhapure’s husband). Harmesh Malhotra was the director. Laxmi-Pyare were the music directors for songs written by Anand Bakshi. Shailendra Singh, Alka Yagnik, Kavitha Krishnamoorthy & Anuradha Paudwal were the playback singers used. Jeetendra, Rekha, Raj Babbar, Poonam Dhillon, Rishi Kapoor, Neelam Kothari, Om Shivpuri, Rohini Hattangadi, Urmila Bhatt, Sushma Seth, Jayshree Gadkar, Chand Usmani, Yunus Parvez, Guddi Maruti, & Shakti Kapoor and Pran were part of the starcast of this film. Tiku Talsania & Guddi Maruti were also in the film.

This post is my 100th on Atul Song A Day blog created by Atul Ji and well supported by a bunch of film & music enthusiasts.

I started this journey on 20/01/2014, with Rafi Saab song “Chup chup chup kyun baithhi ho ” from Hamrahi 1974.

Since then lot has happened in terms of my family structure (going from being parents to two boys – to becoming grandparents to two cute and chubby kids – a boy, Arjun and a girl, Takshavi), to downsizing our house (from a 5 bedroom house to a 3 bedroom house – because the children moved out in 2016 & 17), to changes in my physical structure, from being a full bodied person to becoming an amputee (1. having lost all my toes on my left foot).

On my health front, I also got diagnosed with and treated such from Breast Cancer.

However, I have always maintained a never say die attitude. Full marks to my wife, Sharwari, who has stood behind me as a rock, making it possible for both of us to face all these life challenges.

His name was Lalji Pandey but his college friends gave him a pseudo name, ‘Anjaan’ while participating in mushaira in the college functions as well as elsewhere. “Hamjoli” (1970) was produced by Prasan Kapoor for Tirupati Pictures meaning it was Jeetendra’s home production. T. R. Ramanna was the director.

“”Hamjoli” was the remake of the 1964 Tamil hit ‘Panakkara Kudumbam’ (transl. Rich Family) starring M. G. Ramachandran. That film released on 24 April 1964, and ran for more than 150 days in theatres. Today’s song is from an unknown film of 1948 – Adalat-1948.

Kamsune/Unsune songs of Asha Bhosle – 48

1973 had been the year in which many silver/golden jubilee films were released. Some of the major blockbusters were Bobby, Jugnu, Daag, Zanjeer, Yaadon Ki Baraat, Kahani Kismat Ki, Loafer, etc etc.

Dharmendra had 9 releases, whereas Rajesh Khanna had 3 releases, Big B had 3 releases.

And I was in my 7th standard. In this year I started bunking classes regularly to watch a new release and some old movies on repeat runs every week. For me 1973 holds some strong nostalgic memories which makes me happy and sad in that singular moment.

So here’s a rare song from a film released in early 1973. The song, “Kash Pe Kash Lagane De” from Naya Nasha (1973), is sung by Asha Bhosle, written by Anand Bakshi and composed by Sapan Chakraborty.
