In the 70s Brij Sadanah directed a string of movies after his “Victoria No. 203” became a hit. Almost all his subsequent movies had Pran and Ashok Kumar in central roles with the hero himself being of secondary importance. All his movies had a whole lot of people running after gold or diamonds or khazaana. Then there would be at least one song in disguise.

Greetings to all dear friends and readers on the celebration of Eid-ul-Azha (Eid-ul-Adha) today (16th October, 2013).

This festival is one of the two Eid celebrations as per the Islamic calendar. Today’s celebration is the more significant and the more important of the two Eid festivals, the other one being the Eid-ul-Fitr, that is celebrated at the end of the holy month of Ramzaan (Ramadan). It is also known as Eid-al-Kabir in Arabic, that means ‘the Greater Eid’. In north India, it is also called by the name ‘Badi Eid’.

Last night, when the 700th song of Kishore Da was posted, immediately there was a comment by Mahesh Bhai Mammadapur, requesting to know whether Kishore Da has any songs sung under the music direction of Naushad. Decidedly, this pairing is absolutely rare, because their peak periods were far apart. When Naushad was on the top in 50s and 60s, Kishore Da was considered less than a mainstream singer. And when Kishore Da ruled the world of Hindi film music in the 70s and 80s, Naushad Sb was a spent force, with really very few films to his credit during this period.
