I was aware of a movie called “Naatak” (1974), but there was another movie of this name in 1947. “Naatak” (1947) had a very young Suraiyya in lead role. So she obviously sang her own songs in this movie.

Suraiyya, who ruled the roost as am actor-singer gradually ran out of steam in 1950s. The fact that she would sing only for herself meant that as her demand as an actress fell, she stopped getting singing offers as well.

Here is a nice song from long long ago. This movie is called “Village girl” aka “Gaaon ki Gori” (1945). This song had Noorjahaan in title role. She acts, and sings her own songs , as was the practice those days.

I associate “Parwaana” (1947) with songs of K L Saigal, though in my younger days, “Parwaana” for me meant a movie of 1971 where Naveen Nischol was the hero and Amitabh Bachchan the villain.
