As mentioned earlier, I am at present in a district in Chhattisgarh that shares the same name as the advanced nation of Korea, but unlike the land of Samsung and Hyundai, I find my internet connection crawling at a pace where it is unlikely that I can even open a page, let alone watch/download videos. So I will have to try and post songs whose drafts are already there with me in the blog.

Fortunately or unfortunately (for my friends, readers and followers) I belong to the variety of people who take pleasure in bringing out the hidden rare gems from HFM, usually from the 60s and the 70s. n keeping with my passion for “Rare Hindi Film Songs” (RHFS is my group on FB), today, I present a forgotten gem from a movie – “Raftaar” released in 1975.

One of the things I like doing, is to watch old films on youtube. In the past, there weren’t that many available but over the last few years, many more have been uploaded. Especially the ones that aren’t very easily available otherwise. For somebody like me, that is like “andhe ko kya chaahiye, do aankhen”. 🙂

This is a song sung by Asha Bhosle-for I.S.Johar ! Yes,don’t get surprised. She has given playback to a Male-in woman’s clothes. This is not the first time she has done it. Earlier too she sang for Kishore kumar in film ‘ Baap re Baap ‘-1955.

I wanted to write a post to this song as a Tribute to Mehmood on his death anniversay on 23rd July but I missed the date somehow.

This qawwali is special on many counts. First of all it is a composed by Madan Mohan and written by Rajendra Krishan. The film is Sanjog (1961). It is a marathon effort by Rafi Sahab and Asha Bhosle who are trying to outplay each other in this 10 minutes long qawwali. And ” sone pe suhaaga ” is a unique trivia about this song, as both the singers are giving playback to Mehmood, i.e. Mehmood male qawwaal and Mehmood in the guise of a female qawwaal.

This article is the 10100th song post in the blog.

Ab to ye sab chhote chhote stations lagenge. Now these milestones will seem to be small stations on a long route train. 🙂 🙂

But nonetheless, these smaller stops have a significant role to play. In that they make possible the bigger milestones. After having done the 10K milestone, now the century milestones will seem like small cup cakes. Maybe the next thing of important enthusiasm will be the 11 thousandth post. Ah but that is still nine hundred songs away. And as soon as I think of the 11 thousandth post, my mind gets enamored by a subsequent post number that seems very magical – eleven thousand one hundred and eleven – 11111. Now that is surely going to invoke a lot of interest I am sure. That one will be the first number of its kind to appear on this blog. I mean, in five digit size.
