“Miss Bombay”(1957) was produced by Gulshan Bahl and directed by Kedar Kapoor for N C Films, Bombay. Today’s song is from the film Mast Qalandar-55. It is sung by Shamshad Begum, Rafi and Master Sonik alongwith chorus. The mukhada of the song ” Mast qalandar dama dam” is quite a misleading one, as it has nothing to do with famous Punjabi/Sindhi qawali Dama dam mast qalandar. The phrase has been used here to describe a carefree man. This seems to be a street dance, sung to entertain the onlookers.
