After a gap of almost a week or so, I am returning to the series,” DEBUT OR FIRST FILM SONGS”,with the 9th song .
Readers will recollect that while discussing the Debut song of Madhubala Jhaveri, I had spoken of (or rather written about ) COMETS in the film industry. Today we will take a look at one more such comet, who came, sang songs and returned from where he came-on his own free will. It was not that he was not getting any song assignments- there were plenty of them, but he decided to put Family commitments over over his personal ambitions.

My Primary education was in Urdu language. Hyderabad being a Muslim state, learning Urdu had a definite advantage, but there were schools in English, Marathi, Telugu, Kannada and even Hindi mediums as well in Hyderabad and the treatment to all other languages than Urdu was equal by the Nizam Government. This was because Hyderabad was a Trilingual state, consisting of 8 Telugu speaking Districts, 5 Marathi speaking Districts and 3 Kannada speaking districts, plus the rulers were Urdu speakers. From 5th standard I changed to Marathi Medium and continued till end of schooling. English, Marathi and Hindi were my favourite subjects, but Maths and Geography were my sworn enemies.

We in this blog discuss songs ranging from extremely well known songs to extremely rare songs. Discussing songs that are well known for most music lovers is one thing, but discussing rare songs that few people may be aware of gives me special satisfaction.

When I started the series ” VINTAGE KISHORE ” and the first article was posted on the 17th December 2013,same day, I received the following E Mail…
” Nitin Shah
Dec 17 (13 days ago)Arunji,
Please find attached most of songs of Kishore 1951-1954 for your series. Rest follows. This was in my stock.
I do not want you to waste your time in mundane activity like writing lyrics which is very tedious activity. We all want you to devote more time for what you are best at. I do not want any credit. Thanks “
I was overwhelmed with the generosity and helpfulness of Nitin ji. As such from the day of my First Post on 1-10-2012, ATUL JI has been very kind enough to write Lyrics for the songs I send him in advance of my write up,as a HELP to me. That is how I was able to concentrate on the informative articles, which I wrote. And now,Nitin ji helped me by sending lyrics as well as You Tube links of Kishore songs from 1950 to 1954. He did not stop at this. He also wrote to me next day that even for any future series, I need not write any Lyrics, and that he will send them. So kind of him. What is more, he also wrote that he does not want any credit for this !
This is an indication that articles which I write seem to be interesting to readers. I feel contented. Thanks Nitin ji and Atul ji !!!

– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –
Ah, the good feeling of having met one small success. Friends and readers will remember from earlier posts in this series, that we are running short of three songs in the journey of completing all that Mukesh has sung for Hindi films. Well, that number reduces to two today. 🙂
