When I was growing up in a city in 1972, a new movie hall had come up and it was showing “Seeta Aur Geeta” (1972). Its song were so wonderful to listen to that I as a pre teen kid dearly wanted to watch the movie. One fine day, I dragged my elders to the movie hall to watch this movie. And what did I see ? The movie was withdrawn the previous day, and the movie “Zindagi Zindagi” (1972) was being shown instead.

“Jaalsaaz” (1959) is a forgotten movie by now. But its songs were quite nice to listen to. If these songs are not known to many then it is the loss of the listeners.

I had a diary in 1970s, where I noted down the lyrics of songs that I liked those days. I still have that diary with me, and it is interesting to look at the list of songs that I liked those days.

Roshan made his debut at nearly the same time as most legendary singers (Rafi, Mukesh, Kishore Kumar etc). But is is interesting to note that Roshan used Kishore Kumar’s voice only 8 times, all all these songs were in 1952 and 1953.

Though this song is from a movie of 1970s, I had not heard this song before. This song is from “Bhala Maanus” (1979) and it had Randhir Kapoor and his would be sister in law Neetu Singh in lead roles. Kapoor Khaandaan men are known for figuring in this kind of casting. Here randhir Kapoor was at least acting opposite his (would be) sister in law, his uncles (Shammi Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor) in too acted opposite Babita (Randhir Kapoor’s wife) in several movies.
