“Love in Shimla” (1960), which predates all other “Love in …” movies in Bollwood was the debut movie of Sadhana and Joy Mukherji. And what a superb launch vehicle the two of them had got ! I have not watched the movie, but I have heard and watched a few songs of this movie, and if the songs are any indication, this movie was a great fun movie.

“Naagin” (1954) has so many songs that it is easy to lose track of them. And there are songs which seem like extensions of earlier songs. For instance, the song “teri yaad mein jalkar dekh liyaa” is immediately followed by “Oonchi oonchi duniyaa ki ” song.

“Chhaaya” (1961) was a movie starring Sunil Dutt and Asha Parekh. And like most movies of those days, this movie was a musical blockbuster. I have posted three songs from this movie already, and more songs from this movie need to be posted.

Music of “Naagin” (1954) became so popular that it led to many movies with similar plots and indeed similar music. Not just other music directors, even Hemant Kumar (music director of “Naagin” ) created similar music in subsequent movies.

“Sheesham” (1952) is by now a forgotten movie. This movie had Nasir Khan, Nutan, Kuldeep , Gope etc in lead roles.

It is said that Indians do not have sense of humour, and that is why comedy movies in India in general and Bollywood in particular have been few and far between. Movies dealing with action, romance, mythology and many other subjects are common but movies dedicated to comedy are very few.
