# Bhoole-Bisre Geet # 64# Singer – Kishore Kumar
———————————————–—————————-

In my opinion, Kishore Kumar’s voice reached a different and special plane altogether during late 1960s as compared to his voice prior to earlier years i.e. pre ‘Padosan'(1968) and ‘Aradhana’ (1969). He retained that “something special” in his voice for the rest of his career. His voice was at its versatile peak during this phase of his career.

Hullo to all in Atuldom

“Maan Gaye Ustaad”(1981) was a Shibu Mitra directed movie.

Chandan Singh (Pran) is a farmer who lives in a village called Ramgarh along with his wife, Malti (Sonia Sahni), and two children, Munna and Munni. One day Malti gets molested by three city goons, Jaikishan (Ajit), Rajan, and Banoo (Rajan Haksar). Chandan intervenes, but is attacked, and Malti is shot dead. The children get separated, while Munna is adopted by a Muslim male named Abba (Om Prakash) and is re-named Shera, Munni is adopted by a Hindu family and re-named Geeta.

Atul ji’s 10K Song Milestone Celebrations – 8

Mukesh and His Co-Singers – 3
—————————————-

The thought had crossed my mind a few months back. To calculate the sum of all the posts of contributors and subtract it from the grand total which would have given the obvious number. A number big enough to just admire, thank and congratulate with high gratitude. Thankfully, the pen and paper (and well a calculator) did not meet and so we had Sudhir ji planning his modus-operandi.

Else who knows, I would have written a common mail to both which I usually do and spoiled all the fun.

I got to know of Sudhir ji’s plans which he told me in person when I met him for a short visit to his house. Now wait. Isn’t our meeting a celebration to write a post? Yes indeed, but that shall wait for another day.

All numbers are unique unto themselves – inasmuch as each number has its own claim to fame just by being what it is. And but for the imagination and fancies applied by our minds, which at times picks on certain characteristics and binds some special stature to some of them, all these numbers would be as interesting, or for that matter disinteresting, as any other number. Let me quote the instance of a number that has now become famous as the ‘Hardy – Ramanujan Number’. This anecdote is attributed to a conversation in or about 1919 (wow, ninety seven years ago), that happened in London. Indian mathematician Srinivas Ramanujan, who was based in London for some time, was ill and confined to his bed at his residence. His friend, Godfrey Hardy, another mathematician (who had invited and arranged for Ramanujan’s travel etc. to London), came visiting him. The initial conversation was about Hardy’s journey to see Ramanujan. He mentioned off hand that the number of the taxicab in which he had travelled, was 1729 – for all intents a most uninteresting and boring number. To this comment, Ramanujan replied that ‘1729’ was a very special number. In fact it is the smallest number that can be represented as the sum of two cubes, in two different ways. (I am avoiding the calculation details; interested readers can google this for more details).

Today (24 march 2016) is Holi, the Indian festival of colours. This happens to be the eighth Holi festival for this blog.

It goes without saying that being around for so many years and celebrating this (as well as other festivals) together is in itself a cause for celebration.
