Sadhana was one of the biggest female star of her time in 1960s. But her aura was all but gone by late 1960s and 1970s. There were several reasons for that including the fact that she fell ill at the prime of her career that kept her out of movies in late 1960s. Today (19 august) is Utpal Dutt’s death anniversary. Utpal Dutt was typically known to play the role of an idiosyncratic oldie. During early 1980s, he got somewhat typed cast as a lecherous old man eyeing women greedily. He played such roles in movies like “Naram Garam” (1981) and “Shaukeen” (1982). In “Shaukeen”, he had company of like minded oldtimers viz Ashok Kumar and A K Hangal, but he was on his own in “Naram Garam” (1981).
