In this blog, I typically hope to discuss 6-7 songs a day and that enables me to complete a century in 16 days. This is obviuosly subject to conditions being favourable. “Bahaarein Phir Bhi Aayengi” (1966) is a movie that had Mala Sinha, Dharmendra and Tanuja in lead roles. As far as I am concerned, I know this song only for its title song (Badal jaaye agar maali…bahaarein phir bhi aayengi (Bahaarein Phir Bhi Aayengi ) ) which is so inspirational to listen to.

This is a gem of a song from the movie Apna Haath Jaganaath. This is a 1960 film with Kishore Kumar and Saeeda Khan in lead roles. The movie was very topical for the time it was created. With a large number of educated youth coming into their own in the society, the issues of employment opportunities were as crucial at those times as they are now, only that such issues were just beginning to get the attention of the mainstream society. The movie is about the difficulties faced by educated young men to establish themselves in jobs or in vocational professions. The movie had a message about the dignity of labor, as well as an examination of the government policies (see the song ‘permit permit’ from this movie; already posted on this blog) that were beginning to breed corruption in the society.

I had mentioned that I was temporarily at a place where internet and for that matter even electricity was not guaranteed. Now,after pointing the fact out to the powers be, I find that the things are much better. Electricity is avaialble, because the generator set is being switched on in case of no electicity while earlier, people were too lazy to switch on the gen set, which is an essential item in these parts.
