It is a love song alright, but here the lovers have more practical matters to consider instead of talking poetry and astronomy. In Hindi movies, songs have traditionally played many roles. For one, songs are often the main reason why many people come to watch the movie. In one old movie, which had no songs in it, the maker had to actually explain it to the audience why that movie had no songs. And that explanation cut no ice with the public.

Here is a typically O P Nayyarish romantic song from 1960s. This song is from “Mere Sanam” (1965) and listening to this song, one may guess that the song is from a Shammi Kapoorish movie. And one is too much off the mark in this guesswork. This movie contains Vishwajeet (poor man’s Shammi Kapoor) as well as Asha Parekh.

I am not much aware about this movie called “Insaan Jaag Uthaa” (1959). I just found out that this movie had Sunil Dutt and Madhubala in lead roles. I was not aware that these two had acted together in a movie.

“Waqt” (1965) was a path breaking movie in more ways than one. For one, it was a multistarrer movie, one decade before this term came into circulation. Secondly, it was the movie that set the rules for lost and found movies which became the norm one decade later. In brief, “Waqt” (1965) inspired movie makers like G P Sippy (Sholay, Shaan) as well as Manmohan Desai (Amar Akbar Anthony).
