The poem, kaarwaan guzar gaya gubaar dekhte rahe and the poet Neeraj are inseparable. The poem was later adapted as a song in the film ‘Nai Umar Ki Nai Fasal’ (1965). But if I mention a verse from a ghazal, ‘kaarwaan guzra kiya raahguzar dekha kiya’ with more or less similar import, most of the readers of the Blog (barring those who have interest in the Urdu poetry) may not be aware as to who wrote this ghazal. The poet of this ghazal was Faani Badayuni. This name may not ring bell but the name will surely bring into the minds of most of us, another poet-lyricist from Badayun, Shakeel Badayuni.

ASAD 10th Anniversary Celebrations – 8

I started to write this post, because of my fascination (or is it obsession?) about the music of this movie. Finally for the anniversary occasion, I thought, let me write about this movie, “koi toh kissi din is film ke gaane ke baare mein likhega, main hi kyon na likh daloon???” 🙂 .Ye soch ke and also for the reason that I love the Raj Khosla type of narrative and his song picturization style.

For quite some time, I was missing this film, thinking of the film ‘Poonam Ki Raat’, a 1965 film with music by Salil Chaudhry that is already Yippeee’d here on our blog. Careful scrutiny of the list prepared by Khyati Ben, brings me back to this film from 1967 – ‘Poonam Ka Chaand’.

After completing the recording, Mukesh had commented – people will remember you for this song. He was talking to the music director, and was expressing his emotions having just rendered a beautiful composition. The music director – Daan Singh. The song – “Wo Tere Pyaar Ka Gham” (from the film ‘My Love’ (1970)). Prophetic words, in some ways, yes, because this song is still on the list of favorites of the lovers of this music. But does everyone remember Daan Singh in connection with this song – I am not sure.
