Books like Dictionaries and Encyclopedias carry the highest credibility. Does anyone question the meaning of words in a Dictionary ? Certainly not ! The movie had Balraj Sahni, Padmini, Jagdeep, David, Siddhu,Om prakash, Rajendranath, Vijaya Chowdhury, Jayashree Gadkar, Minoo Mumtaz, Lalita Pawar, Achala Sachdev, Neelam, Hanumanthachary, L.R.Mudaliyar, Master Ashok, Master Basant, Master Saiyyeed, Baby Dalby etc in it.

“Amaanat” (1975) was produced and directed by Shatrujit Paul. The movie had Manoj Kumar, Sadhana, Balraj Sahni, Mehmood, Achalka Sachdev, Shashikala, Keshto Mukherji etc in it. This movie began in 1960s and its songs got released much before the movie. The movie itself had a very delayed release. It finally got its censor certificate on 31 december 1975 and thus qualified as a movie of 1975!

“Ek baar muskura do”(1972) was almost a family affair. It was produced by Shomu Mukherji and directed by Ram Mukherji. This movie had Joy Mukherjee, Tanuja, Deb Mukherjee, Shobhana Samarth- all related to each other working in the movie.

Dev Anand directed something like 20 films. However, only two of these, Hare Rama Hare Krishna (1971) and Des Pardes (1978) survived at the box office. In fact, “Des Pardes” (1978) was his last acknowledged hit.

Three Hindi films of the 50s which had created lots of hype during their pre-released days were ‘Aan’ (1952), ‘Jhanak Jhanak Paayal Baaje’ (1955) and ‘Navrang’ (1959). They were all made in Technicolor. With nearly all the films made during that time and earlier in black and white, there was curiosity among film buffs to watch these Technicolor films. While none of these films had good story lines, they all ran in the theaters for a long time. I remember ‘Jhanak Jhanak Paayal Baaje’ (1955) had completed 100 weeks of run in Metro theater and ‘Navrang’ (1959) ran for over 50 weeks in Liberty theater of Mumbai.
