Mela (1971) is a movie I remember from my early days. I believe that , inspite of the Rajesh Khanna wave threatening to drown every non-Rajesh movie in those days, this movie did manage to do well at the box-office. Its songs also became pretty popular too, especially the Rafi-Lata duet, “Rut hai milan ki”.

I have discussed as many as five songs from “Rajkumar” (1964) so I naturally got complacent (like a good Indian cricket fan 🙂 )and thought that I had discussed all the songs from this movie.

Like most music lovers, I tend to know only about the better known songs from most movies and I am often in the dark about songs that failed to make it big. Often, one can come across special songs even among these forgotten songs.

Of course, I have not seen this movie and my observation is based on the number of songs that this movie has. As it is, I have discussed four songs from this movie and there seems to be many more songs in this movie.

“Taj”(1956) had virtually the same team as “Naagin” (1954). The makers of “Taj” (1956) obviously hoped to replicate the commercial success of “Naagin” 91954) by doing that. I am not sure how much of a commercial success “Taj” (1956) was. It was certainly nowhere close to “Naagin” (1954), that is for sure.
